Prime Minister Andy has today announced the appointment
of as Labour Party Chair,
underlining his determination to change the culture of the party
and ensure it is ready to win the next general election.
Bridget combines a deep understanding of our movement with the
experience of government and the determination to ensure Labour
is ready for the challenges ahead.
Alongside her responsibilities for Women and Equalities, will take on the role of
Party Chair. She will work closely with Prime Minister , Deputy Labour Leader and Chief Whip to embed a new culture
within the Labour Party.
A central focus of Bridget's role will be ensuring the Labour
Party is prepared to fight and win the next general election,
which must take place by 2029. This includes modernising the
party for a new digital campaigning environment and ensuring
Labour has the organisation, talent, infrastructure and policy
platform needed to secure a second term in government.
Bridget will also work to strengthen engagement with Labour
members, affiliated trade unions and local parties across the
country.
Announcing the appointment, the Rt Hon MP, Prime Minister and Leader
of the Labour Party said:

She will play a vital role in ensuring the Labour Party is match
fit for the next election.
I am delighted Bridget has accepted this role and I look forward

The appointment reflects Andy Burnham's commitment to drawing on
the full breadth and depth of talent across the Labour Party as
he builds one united team focused on changing Britain and
delivering a second term Labour government.
