On Thursday 16 July at 10.35am, MP, former Minister for
Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls will
appear before the Lords Domestic Abuse Act 2021 Committee.

of Westminster.
Questions will include:
- What would you consider to be your most substantial
achievements during your tenure as the Minister for Safeguarding
and Violence Against Women and Girls? What further things did you
hope to achieve, and what, if anything made this difficult?
- We have consistently heard the police still have a tendency
to treat domestic abuse as incident based' rather focusing on the
pattern of behaviour involved in coercion and control. What do
you think needs to be done to change this?
- We have heard very concerning evidence about the growth of
tech facilitated and online abuse. What could be done to address
this?
- Although the Act states that children are victims of domestic
abuse in their own right, we have heard serious concerns about
the effective implementation of this measure. What would you like
to see the Government do to improve this?
- We have heard that migrant victims' experience of domestic
abuse is further exacerbated due to their immigration status,
having no recourse to public funds, which also affects access to
safe accommodation, and by the lack of a firewall' between the
police and immigration enforcement. What would you like to see
done to address this?
