Police and Crime Committee responds to announcement of London grooming gangs investigation

Following the announcement that London will be included as a specific location in the national independent inquiry into grooming gangs, Chairman of the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee, Susan Hall AM, said:

I welcome the news that London will be included in the national independent inquiry into grooming gangs, particularly as the Police and Crime Committee wrote to the Chair of the inquiry, Baroness Longfield CBE, calling for London to be included as a specific area for review.

The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee is currently investigating the extent to which these heinous groups are operating in London.

"We heard how for too long, these grooming gangs have been able to operate in London, are still prevalent today, and continue to extend their reach across the country.

The victim-survivors are the most important people in all of this, and I hope our own investigation, alongside the national inquiry, can help them to know they are finally being listened to.
