What should happen to the UK oil and gas industry? MPs to ask witnesses

On Wednesday 17 June the ESNZ Committee opens oral evidence for its inquiry into the future of the UK oil and gas industry, its workers and the wider communities that serve them. 

This first hearing will explore the key stakeholder perspectives put to the Committee in written evidence, including: 

• The ongoing role of the UK's oil and gas industry in energy security 
• The energy transition's impact on economic competitiveness and on meeting UK climate commitments 
• Repurposing industrial facilities and careers 
• Oil and gas sector interdependencies in the wider economy, from ports and refineries to manufacturing
• Decommissioning infrastructure
