On Tuesday 16 June from 11:00am, the House of Lords European
Affairs Committee will continue its inquiry into dynamic
alignment.
The Committee is holding two evidence sessions on the prospective
UK-EU Electricity Agreement which would provide for UK
participation in the EU's Internal Electricity Market (IEM). It
is currently under negotiation alongside two other prospective
UK-EU dynamic alignment' agreements, on the formation of a Common
Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Area and an agreement linking
the UK and EU Emissions Trading Schemes (ETSs)

Members are likely to explore a range of topics including:
- Whether joining the EU's Internal Electricity Market the only
way to fix the problems with current UKEU electricity trading
rules
- Whether a new Electricity Agreement would have an effect on
UK energy costs
- What the most difficult or contentious issues in the
negotiation of an Electricity Agreement might be
- Whether participation in the EU's Internal Electricity Market
might have implications for the UK's energy relations outside the
EU
The evidence session will take place in Committee Room 1,
