Secretary of State for Education met TV personality Gemma
Collins for a discussion on how education reforms will help all
young people to thrive, ensuring children who don't excel in
academic education aren't left in the lurch after age 16.
Gemma Collins, who left school with minimal qualifications, spoke
to the Secretary of State about how to ensure children like her
aren't left behind. They discussed how new V Levels and
Occupational Pathways, announced in March,
will help to remove the snobbery from hands-on learning and
provide clear routes into rewarding, well paid jobs for all young
people.
The meeting came ahead of further details on new V Levels and
other qualifications reforms being published tomorrow [press
release below], helping to bring vocational education on par with
academic study. The posts will highlight how DfE is transforming
post-16 education, so every young person leaves education with
strong qualifications that help them get on in life.
