Nuclear Decommissioning Authority group Chair, Peter Hill CBE,
has announced he is to step down on 17th April to focus on
his other existing and potential future board roles.
This is following a successful period involving some significant
achievements including reshaping the NDA Board, progressing
improvements in the group's governance arrangements, leading the
NDA during the 2024/25 Spending Review when it received the
largest grant settlement in the group's history, successfully
delivering the 2025/26 financial year with a much improved
safety record and ensuring the group is ready to deliver its
refreshed strategy.
Peter Hill said:
It has been a privilege to lead the board of the NDA. The group
has a nationally important mission, and I have been hugely
impressed by the quality of people across the group. I wish them
well for the future.
David Peattie, NDA Group CEO, said:
I would like to thank Peter for his personal support and
guidance since he joined the NDA in June 2024. Since then, he has
made a significant impact for which we are grateful. We wish him
well in all that he does.

I would like to thank Peter Hill for his leadership and strategic
insight during his time at the NDA in which significant progress
has been made, including overseeing the smooth transfer of
Hunterston B nuclear power station into government ownership.
Catriona Schmolke CBE, has been appointed as Interim Chair
and The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will now
launch a competitive external search process to find Peter's
successor.
