MPs are again inviting pitches and suggestions from across the
culture, media and sports world as part of an inquiry that has
been casting a spotlight on previously unheard issues and
challenges.
Over the last year the
Culture, Media and Sport Committee's State of
Play inquiry has held evidence sessions and successfully pressed
the Government on a wide range of suggested issues. Sessions have
been held on the challenges faced by
live comedy, the lack of financial support
for elite deaf athletes and the ongoing problems faced by
creatives touring in the EU, as well as on play facilities and
business events.
The Committee is now looking for further
ideas for a new round of hearings on matters that may
previously have been underappreciated or underreported.
Chair of the CMS Committee, Dame MP, said:
“Whether it's by bringing ministers to the table to talk about
live comedy or kickstarting discussions on funding for our
exceptional British elite deaf athletes, our State of Play
sessions have shown the success that we can have when we give a
voice to those who have previously felt unheard.
We now want to hear about the latest topics and challenges that
are still sailing under the radar so we can continue to make a
genuine difference and help maintain the success of our culture,
media and sporting sectors.”
