The PM has chaired Cabinet.
Victims and court users will benefit from more
efficient justice as MoJ delivers the second
reading of the Courts Bill, which will deliver a faster
and fairer justice system for victims. This includes a new
pilot that places the focus of rape court cases on
the suspect, not the victim, to
help survivors have the confidence to progress their
cases. It also follows the Prime Minister meeting victims of
sexual abuse in 10 Downing Street yesterday where he listened to
their stories and how our reforms could help improve how victims
experience the justice system.
The public will be given the chance to have their say
on how the new digital ID could help them access public services
more quickly, easily and securely – as the government
launches a national consultation.
Young people will be able to take the very first V Levels in
education, finance and digital from next year, as the government
sets out further details of its landmark post‑16 reforms. These
reforms will help deliver our ambition for two‑thirds
of young people to move into a gold‑standard apprenticeship,
higher training or university by age 25.
As part of efforts to monitor the impact of the ongoing situation
in the Middle East and its global impact on energy markets,
the Energy Secretary is dialling into a G7 energy
ministers' meeting in Paris this afternoon which will be
chaired by Minister Lescure of France.
The Technology Secretary convened major tech
companies in London yesterday to make clear they go
further and faster to protect women and girls. This comes as the
government steps up action to tackle online violence while
urging Ofcom to report swiftly on which companies are
failing to act.
