Lords Numeracy for Life Committee focuses on curriculum and teaching methods

The House of Lords Numeracy for Life Committee continues its inquiry on Thursday 12 March by taking evidence on the curriculum and teaching methods.

The session can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 1, Palace of Westminster on Thursday 12 March from 10.50am.

Giving evidence will be:

• David Thomas OBE,
  CEO, Axiom Maths;
  
  
• Dr Helen Drury,
  Dean of Maths Excellence, Purposeful Ventures, and Co-Lead of Maths Horizons;
  
  
• Charlie Stripp MBE,
  Chief Executive, Mathematics and Education in Industry and Director, National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics.

Members are expected to ask questions on:

• Maths education across primary and secondary education in delivering numeracy;
• Approaches to teaching maths and numeracy;
• Changes to the curriculum;
• Maths culture.
  
  

The Special Inquiry Committee was appointed to consider numeracy in England. The Committee will publish its call for evidence shortly and is expected to report on its findings in Autumn 2026.
