Deputy Mayor quizzed on London’s environmental progress

It is 10 years on from the Mayor's election pledge to make London the “greenest global city,” eight years since the London Environment Strategy was published, and four years until London's net zero target.

In February, the London Assembly Environment Committee held an environmental forum at City Hall, welcoming environmental stakeholders to share their views on London's progress and priorities for environmental action.

Tomorrow, Assembly Members will question the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy on whether London is on track to meet its targets, and what actions he is taking to prioritise action.

The Committee will examine London's environmental progress against the key issues and targets identified in the London Environment Strategy and the environmental commitments the Mayor made in his manifesto before the last election.

Topics include progress on greening London and improving access to green space, making London's rivers ‘swimmable', achieving London's net zero target by 2030, efforts to ensure London's air quality meet levels recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
