The Cabinet Office has today announced the appointment of Rachel
King as a Non-Executive Director to the Remuneration Committee of
the Government Commercial Organisation (GCO).
About Rachel King
Rachel King is a highly experienced Non-Executive Director and
C-suite HR and Reward strategic leader. Her background includes
significant experience in large, complex, highly regulated,
global, high-profile, and publicly scrutinised organisations.
She has a strong track record in aligning commercial and business
strategy with people strategy, ensuring remuneration and reward
is linked to successful business outcomes in large complex
organisations.
Ms. King's expertise includes:
- Remuneration and Compensation: She has direct experience in
Remuneration Committee partnering, advising on robust oversight
of committee obligations for Remuneration Policy, Long-Term
Incentive Plans (LTIPs), Short-Term Incentive Plans (STIPs), and
executive and workforce pay at Spire Healthcare PLC. She also
advised and prepared papers for the Remuneration Committees at
Camelot Group and Trinity Mirror PLC.
- Board and Governance: She has served as a Non-Executive
Director for Network Homes (now SNG) and Mental Health First Aid
England CIC. She has experience with corporate governance and
advising various board committees including Remuneration,
Nomination, and Audit & Risk.
- Transformation and People Strategy: As Group People Director
at Spire Healthcare PLC, she led a strategic transformation of
the people function, and as Group People Director at Camelot
Group, she oversaw the implementation of a 3-year strategic
review, new business plan, and culture change.
Rachel King is a Fellow of the CIPD and a member of Women on
Boards.
Role of the GCO Remuneration Committee
The GCO Remuneration Committee's remit focuses on overseeing all
aspects of remuneration for GCO staff. This includes setting a
strategic direction for remuneration and reward and ensuring
pension administration is correctly managed. The Committee
ensures the GCO reward structure remains competitive to attract,
retain, and motivate employees within the constraints set by HM
Treasury and the Civil Service.
