Home Office Minister to be questioned on UK-EU Reset developments and citizens' rights

This afternoon (Wednesday 21 January) at 2:30pm the House of Lords European Affairs Committee is taking evidence from the Rt Hon Lord Hanson of Flint, Home Office Minister of State.   

This is a one-off session and the first time that the Committee has taken evidence from a Home Office Minister since 2021.   

The session will take place in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster, and can be watched live, or after the meeting, on Parliamentlive.tv.  

The Committee is likely to put questions across a range of the Home Office's EU-related business, including:  

• the operation of the UK's post-Brexit EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) for EU citizens in the UK, as implementation continues of changes which have been made to the Scheme in recent years;   

• the impact for UK travellers of the EU's Entry/Exit System (EES), as its rollout continues ahead of planned full implementation in April; and   

• UK-EU cooperation on criminal law enforcement and irregular migration, including with Europol and the EU's border agency Frontex. In the context of the UK-EU reset, the Committee is likely to follow up, in particular, on commitments made at the May 2025 UK-EU summit in this area, on issues such as the exchange of law enforcement data.
