Justice Minister Has Announced the Appointment of
Acting Chief Superintendent Norman Haslett As a Board Member of
the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust Prrt).
Mr Haslett Is Appointed As the Statutory Nominee of the Chief
Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland. His
Position Is Effective from 5 January 2026.

Prrt Is an Executive Non-departmental Public Body of the
Department of Justice. It Provides Psychological Therapies,
Physiotherapy, Coaching and Development, Training and Education
Programmes In Accordance with Assessed Needs) to Support: Police
Officers Retiring from the Police Service of Northern Ireland
Psni), or the Royal Ulster Constabulary Gc Ruc Gc); and Other
Justice Partners.

Norman Haslett
Temporary Chief Superintendent Norman Haslett Has Almost 30
Years' Experience of Policing in Northern Ireland. He Is
Currently the Police Commander for South Area Which Comprises the
Local Council Areas of Newry, Mourne & Down, Armagh City,
Banbridge & Craigavon, mid Ulster and Omagh & Fermanagh.
Norman Is a Native of Derry / Londonderry and Has a B.Sc. Hons)
from the University of Surrey and a Ph.D. From Queen's
University, Belfast. He Joined the Royal Ulster Constabulary Gc
in 1996 and Has Served in Frontline Policing Roles Throughout His
Career at the Rank of Constable in Omagh, Detective Constable in
Strabane and at the Ranks of Sergeant, Inspector, Chief Inspector
and Superintendent in the City of Belfast. He Was the Head of the
Psni Policing with the Community Branch and in 2020 Was Appointed
As the District Commander for Newry, Mourne & down Where He
Was Responsible for the Implementation of the South Armagh
Policing Review. In May 2025 He Was Elected As President of the
Superintendents' Association of Northern Ireland Sani) Which
Supports over 70 Police Officers at the Rank of Superintendent
and Chief Superintendent. Norman Took up His Current Role in
November 2025.
