As Labour enters its second full year back in government, the
party's first televised party political broadcast of 2026 will
see the Prime Minister say “this year you will start
to feel the benefit of Labour's decisions in your
community”.
The broadcast sets out how Labour's decisions are already
beginning to improve people's lives, and how, after years of
decline and drift under the Conservatives, the renewal the Prime
Minister's Labour Government is bringing is becoming real,
visible and felt by working people in their communities. It makes
clear that the government is squarely focused on delivery – not
slogans or excuses but change people can see and feel in their
everyday lives.
Featuring families and workers from across the country, the
broadcast shows how Labour is turning the corner – including
through new homes being built, more neighbourhood police on
Britain's streets, and school-based nurseries expanding access to
childcare for parents from September.
The Prime Minister highlights the sizeable progress his Labour
Government has made on reducing NHS waiting times, immigration
and child poverty - all coming down – and a commitment to go
further as his plan for national renewal gathers pace.
The broadcast also highlights the difference Labour is making to
household finances – a key personal priority for the Prime
Minister. This year will see workers receive another welcome
boost to the National Minimum Wage, frozen rail fares and
prescription charges, expanded free childcare, and £150 off the
average energy bill from April – measures which all help
ease cost-of-living pressures.
The Labour Leader highlights the stark contrast his
approach has with that of other political leaders who
exploit people's genuine concerns for their own ends, talking the
country down and insisting that Britain is broken.
The Prime Minister argues instead for the politics of national
renewal over grievance, saying: “When we choose renewal, not
grievance – when we show that our problems can be solved and that
the future is in our control – then the real Britain can shine
through”. “A Britain of boundless creativity, of pride and grit…
a Britain that has always weathered the storms of history".
Given the gravity of what is at stake this year between these two
visions for the future, the Prime Minister ends the broadcast by
calling on the public to come together in a collective effort to
renew Britain together.
