MPs to examine health, learning and development aspects of children’s TV and video content

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee holds the third session of its inquiry exploring the provision of children's TV and video content in the UK. 

The hearing with academics and policy experts will focus on the health, learning and development aspects of what children watch and how they watch it.

The session is likely to explore the scientific evidence around the positive and negative impacts that different forms of content can have on young children and teens, and the role that parents play in choosing and watching content.

There are also likely to be questions on the implications of the rise of viewing on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok and the challenges posed by the increasing availability of AI-generated content.

The Committee previously took evidence from Children's Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Greg Childs from the Children's Media Foundation, and held a session on the challenges faced by those producing content.
