Conservative response to Government homelessness strategy

Paul Holmes MP, Shadow MHCLG Minister, said:

“We all want to see progress on tackling homelessness. But under Labour, we've had the reverse: there are now a record number of households and families in temporary accommodation.

“Labour's abysmal failure to deliver new homes has compounded the problem. Combined with their inability to secure our borders and their reforms that have driven landlords form the market, this has left renters and homeless people fighting for affordable housing.

“And with Labour refusing to say when the money for new social housing will be available, things look set to get worse before they get better. Only the Conservatives will ensure Britain has enough homes, including by abolishing stamp duty on primary residences to unfreeze the housing market.”
