Committee Chairs write to Ministers on VAWG Strategy

Select Committee Chairs Labour MP Sarah Owen, Conservative MP Dame Karen Bradley and Labour MP Andy Slaughter have jointly written to Home Office minister Jess Phillips, and Justice minister Alex Davies-Jones following a select committee engagement event with stakeholders on the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy.

The Government has committed to halve VAWG in a decade and plans to set out how it will do so in its much-anticipated VAWG Strategy.

The letter states: “Whilst we welcome the efforts of the Home Office and Ministry of Justice to ensure the VAWG Strategy is both robust and practical in its application, we wanted to relay some of the concerns we heard from stakeholders during our engagement event.”
