Education Minister has launched an online survey
inviting schools and education stakeholders to help develop a new
curriculum framework for Northern Ireland.
School leaders, teachers and the wider education sector are being
asked to share their views on individual subjects and Areas of
Learning to guide the work of the Curriculum Taskforce.
Launching the survey, said: “This is a key
opportunity to influence the future of curriculum policy and
ensure the new Northern Ireland curriculum meets the needs of
learners today and in the years ahead. Feedback will inform the
work of the subject working groups being established by the
Curriculum Taskforce.
“Whether you are a classroom teacher, school leader, or
have a broader interest in education, your insights will help
shape a curriculum that builds on what is already working well in
schools and supports every learner to thrive.”
Chairperson of the Curriculum Taskforce, Christine Counsell
added: “We are looking forward to hearing views from across the
education sector in Northern Ireland. The survey will identify
strengths and challenges in each subject area and gather ideas
for future development.
“We particularly want to hear about strong curriculum practice in
Northern Ireland schools. Furthermore, we also want views on the
broader capabilities the curriculum should aim to develop across
all subjects.”
The Curriculum Taskforce aims to design a system curriculum
framework that sets out core content and provides the essential
knowledge, concepts and skills that all pupils should be taught
in each subject.
The survey is open until 28 November 2025 and can be accessed at
