Health Committee Chair writes to Government on risks posed by delays to maternity care investigation

The Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee has expressed deep concern to the Government regarding delays in carrying out the independent maternity and neonatal care investigation. 

In her letter to the Minister Baroness Gillian Merron, Layla Moran MP writes that the revised timetable for the investigation risks undermining public confidence, and calls into question whether evidence submitted by families can be meaningfully analysed before the final report is due to be published in the spring. 

The Chair also calls on the Minister to provide the Committee with clear information on the timescales for the final report to be published, what information will be provided in an update in December, and assurances that families' evidence will be fully analysed before conclusions are reached.
