A £784,000 active travel scheme from Clough Village to Dundrum
Village will commence on Monday 17 November 2025.
The works will complete the final phase of active travel
improvements between Clough and Dundrum, with this section of the
scheme providing 1.6 km of improvements between Ardilea Road to
the council car park on Main Street Dundrum.
Infrastructure Minister said:
“Creating cleaner and greener travel options is one of my
department's seven Foundations for a Better Future, and this
route between the two villages will enhance active travel
provision in the area. This demonstrates my ongoing commitment to
walking, wheeling and cycling with schemes such as this providing
healthy, environmentally friendly transport choices for people
who wish to leave the car behind for some of their shorter
everyday journeys.
“I would like to thank users of the existing facility for their
patience and cooperation while these works were completed.”
To help ensure the safety of workers and road users it will be
necessary to implement localised lane closures when the works
commence. The majority of the scheme will be completed during the
hours of 9.30 am to 4.00 pm daily, Monday to Friday. Full
details of closures will be displayed in advance and a temporary
40 miles per hour speed limit will also be in place as well as
prohibition of overtaking throughout the duration of these works.
Road users are asked to comply with all temporary traffic
restrictions and to drive with care when travelling in the
vicinity of the road works.
Subject to favourable weather conditions all works will be
completed in April 2026 however the Department will keep the
public informed of any change.
Whilst the Department has carefully planned these road works and
associated traffic management arrangements in order to
minimise any inconvenience to the public, road users should
expect delays and allow additional time when planning any
journey.
