Background
- See full Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT)
data here.
- SMMT stats show that October has been another record month
for electric car sales with battery electric vehicles accounting
for approximately 25% (1 in 4) of all sales – a new high for
October - representing a around a 30% increase since this
time last year.
- The Electric Car Grant offers grants worth up to £3750 on 37
car models. See eligible list here.
- The Government is also investing £381m to support local
authorities in the rollout of 100,000 more chargers across the
country, helping to keep drivers moving and tackle myths around
‘charging anxiety'.
- Government last week announced proposals to
make it easier for renters and motorists without driveways to
install cheaper home chargers, giving them access to affordable
rates.
- This includes cutting red tape and removing the need for
planning permission to install, saving residents up to £250 on
application fees.
- This is on top of a £25 million scheme
announced in July to support local authorities to provide
discreet cross-pavement channel charging solutions for
residents, so more people without a driveway can charge easily
and cheaply at home.
