Following Privy Council approval, Muriel Gray has been
reappointed for a 4-year term from 3 January 2026.
Muriel Gray
Muriel Gray is a Glasgow-based arts graduate whose forty-year
career has encompassed on-screen broadcasting, print journalism,
producing, and directing.
She was the founder of a highly successful television production
company and has also authored several novels and non-fiction
books.
Concurrently, her commitment to public service governance has
also spanned four decades, with appointments including Rector and
Chair of Edinburgh University Court, Chair of Glasgow School of
Art's Board of Governors, and joint Deputy Chair of the Board of
Trustees of The British Museum.
Muriel Gray has been reappointed for a term of 4 years,
commencing on 3 January 2026.
Remuneration and Governance Code
Board Members of the BBC are remunerated by £38,000 per annum.
This appointment has been made in accordance with the Cabinet
Office's Governance
Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is
regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the
Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an
appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is
defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a
recordable donation, or candidature for election.
Muriel Gray has declared no such political activity.
