Collaborative partnerships between local licensing authorities, the police, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and local trade are vital to enable effective taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) regulation.

This guidance aims to support effective information sharing between licensing authorities and the police concerning taxi and PHV licensing.

It was co-written by the Department for Transport, Home Office, Disclosure and Barring Service, National Police Chiefs' Council, Institute of Licensing, Local Government Association and the National Association of Licensing and Enforcement Officers.
