The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Combined Authority has confirmed an additional £250,000 of
investment into four key projects as part of its £4.4 million UK
Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) programme for
2025/26.
The increase in funding will
strengthen projects previously approved for UKSPF funding,
helping them deliver even greater impact for residents,
businesses, and communities.
The projects to receive a share of the
additional investment are:
Vibrant Communities,
Huntingdonshire –
£83,333
Additional funding will support a
wider programme of events in town centres, larger villages and
Huntingdonshire's communities. These activities will draw more
people into high streets, boost local businesses, and help
Huntingdonshire's towns thrive. The first events will begin in
2025.
Northstowe, South
Cambridgeshire –
£50,000
Further investment will help equip
Northstowe's new community centre and local centre with modern
digital infrastructure and flexible communal spaces for
start-ups, local enterprises, and community groups. This project
will create long-term value for residents by improving digital
access, supporting lifelong learning, and providing spaces for
local businesses and community
events.
Improving South Cambs High
Streets, South Cambridgeshire
– £33,333
The additional funding will help to
continue to improve South Cambridgeshire's high streets by
enhancing their appearance, boosting safety, and increasing the
vitality of local centres, making them more welcoming for
shoppers and visitors. Through this project residents, business
owners and community groups will have a say on where the funding
should go. Consultations with local communities will begin later
this year.
A Focus on Abbey, Cambridge
City –
£83,333
Residents in Abbey and neighbouring
wards will continue to be supported to develop a shared vision
for their community, working with schools, businesses, and local
groups. The project will back new initiatives that improve
amenities, wellbeing, and opportunities, with an action plan
created alongside residents to guide
investment.
All projects aim to be delivered by
March 2026, and together they will support thriving local
economies, vibrant town centres, and stronger communities across
the region.
, Mayor of Cambridgeshire and
Peterborough, said:
“These projects will revitalise our
high streets, strengthen our communities, and give local people
better facilities and opportunities. This is investment that will
make an impact on daily life, and it is another step towards a
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough where everyone is healthier,
wealthier and happier.”
