The Department for the Economy has today launched a public
consultation on arrangements to close the Non-Domestic Renewable
Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme.
The Northern Ireland Executive has agreed a pathway to closure,
and this consultation seeks views on the Department's proposed
approach.
Closure arrangements include a payment mechanism based on annual
payments, with uplifted tariffs, delivering a solution that is
fair to participants and taxpayers alike.
This consultation is an important opportunity to shape the final
arrangements on the closure of the scheme and will run for eight
weeks, available until Monday 24 November 2025.
The consultation is available here: www.economy-ni.gov.uk/consultations/closure-northern-ireland-non-domestic-renewable-heat-incentive-scheme
Following the consultation, Economy Minister Dr intends to bring a paper
to the Executive to confirm the closure regulations and, subject
to passage through the Assembly, bring new regulations in to
effect by April 2026.
