MPs hear from UK PFAS manufacturers on safeguards against contamination

On Wednesday the Environmental Audit Committee continues its inquiry into the regulation of PFAS, with an evidence session exploring the manufacture and remediation of these chemicals. 

The Committee is investigating what potential risks PFAS pose in the UK and whether current regulations around the use and disposal of the chemicals are strong enough.

MPs will ask witnesses – including two UK-based PFAS manufacturers – what risks these chemicals pose to the environment and to human health, what safeguards should be in place, and how manufacturers can help to address potential PFAS contamination.

MPs will also explore what options are available to remediate end-of-life PFAS, including nature-based solutions, and who should take responsibility for remediation.
