Lords waste crime inquiry hears from law and criminal justice experts

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee continues its short inquiry into waste crime on Wednesday 10 September by hearing from law and criminal justice experts.    

The session will take place from 10am. It can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster (committee room 4).

Giving evidence will be:

• Dr Anna Willetts,

Co-Convener, UK Environmental Law Association Waste Working Party;

• Matthew Scott,

Commissioner, Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent;

• David Sidwick,

Commissioner, Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset.

Questions from the committee will cover the following areas:

• impacts of serious and organised waste crime on communities and the environment;
• connections with other forms of serious and organised crimes;
• penalties for committing serious waste crime;
• the role of police forces in relation to serious waste crime;
• how the Environment Agency, police forces, and regional organised crime

units work together.
