Lords inquiry hears from Building Safety Regulator

The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee continues its inquiry into the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) by hearing from representatives from the regulator.

The session will run from 10am on Tuesday 9 September and can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 2, Palace of Westminster.

The Committee will hear from:

• Phillip White,

Chief Inspector of Buildings, Building Safety Regulator;

• Chris Griffin McTiernan,

Deputy Director Operations, Building Safety Regulator.

Members are expected to ask questions on:

• the main achievements and biggest challenges faced by the BSR;
  
  
• delays to decisions on gateway applications and the new fast-track process;
  
  
• plans to issue notices on an organisation-by-organisation basis;
  
  
• communication, guidance, engagement and feedback provided by the BSR;
  
  
• the quality of building control applications received by the BSR;
   
• BSR resources and if it has access to the skilled staff necessary to carry out multidisciplinary assessments of safety;
  
  
• building trust and understanding with the sector.
