Education Minister has today announced the formal
opening of the £31 million TransformED Teacher Professional
Learning (TPL) Fund.
This marks a further step forward in the Department's commitment
to enhancing teaching quality and pupil outcomes across Northern
Ireland.
The TransformED TPL Fund represents a £31 million investment
over three years. All schools are eligible to access funding to
support high-quality, evidence-based professional development for
teachers.
Welcoming the opening of the fund and the publication of guidance
for schools, said: “Today's
announcement is a significant investment in our teaching
workforce as this £31million fund will support the ongoing
development of teachers and school leaders across Northern
Ireland.
“By supporting high-quality professional learning, we are
empowering teachers to deliver the best possible education for
our children and young people. Guidance has also been published
to provide schools with the clarity and support they need to make
the most of this opportunity and apply to the scheme.”
To access funding, schools must submit an Annual TPL Strategy
Statement by Monday 29 September 2025, outlining their
professional learning priorities and how the funding will be
used. Schools will also be required to report annually on the
impact of funded activities. In addition, the Education and
Training Inspectorate will carry out system-level
evaluations each year to monitor progress and impact.
The Minister continued: “TransformED is about raising
standards and improving outcomes. This fund is a practical and
targeted step in achieving those goals. I encourage all schools
to engage with the guidance and submit their strategy statements
to ensure they benefit from this important initiative.”
The guidance is now available on the Department of Education's
website at https://www.education-ni.gov.uk/publications/tpl-fund-guidance-document. Schools
can access their funding allocation and submit their TPL Strategy
Statement via the new TPL Tab in the Targeting Social Need
Planner on the C2k network.
