Committee examines public perceptions and the impact of trust in the national energy transition

Oral evidence 3pm Wednesday 3 September

The Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) Committee will take oral evidence on Wednesday 3 September from climate groups and leading experts on how to build public support for the UK's energy transition.

The session will examine how the public engages with issues around the transition – from understanding the science of climate change, to the impact on household bills, to the siting of renewable energy infrastructure. The Committee will also consider the role of trust in shaping public perceptions.

Witnesses will discuss how different narratives about the energy transition gain traction with the public, and the approaches organisations use to frame these issues – whether through media reporting, campaigning, or public participation such as citizens' assemblies.
