Britain Remade responds to government’s plan to build homes on railway land

Responding to the government's plan to build homes on brownfield railway land, Sam Richards, CEO of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:

“The government's plan to build 40,000 homes on brownfield railway land is nothing more than a re-announcement of something they unveiled just a few months ago. 

“Rather than reheating old news to have something to say during recess, the government needs to get on with it and actually get spades in the ground now if it has any chance of getting close to its 1.5 million housing target.

“The centrepiece of Labour's conference last year was Brownfield Passports, which would speed up development near transport hubs - like train stations. Brownfield Passports could turbocharge housebuilding in these areas, but almost a year on, there has been virtually no progress in implementing them.”
