Labour responds to Farage's pledge to scrap the Online Safety Act

A Labour Party spokesperson, responding to Nigel Farage confirming he would scrap the Online Safety Act, said:

“Nigel Farage would scrap vital protections for young people online, and recklessly open the floodgates to kids being exposed to extreme digital content. 

“Reform offers anger but no answers. They won't say what they would do instead to keep people safe. Farage would give children access to material on suicide, self-harm, eating disorders and pornography. He is simply not serious.   

“While Nigel Farage rushes out policies that could put young people at risk, Labour is driving forward our plans for online safety and to reduce crime on Britain's streets. Through our Plan for Change, Labour is putting 13,000 neighbourhood police back on the beat, clamping down on the crimes blighting our communities and building a safer, fairer country for us all.”
