This report details findings from qualitative research with members of the public in England, exploring the extent of public acceptability for using institutions (such as workplaces, schools and other community venues) to manage testing during future pandemics.

The study provides insight into how acceptability might vary depending on the type of venue being used, the severity and rate of transmission of the illness (a respiratory infection), and the intrusiveness of the testing interventions being implemented by the venues.

It identifies the factors that are important for maximising public acceptability, and provides learnings for the development of future policy and communications relating to the use of institutions and community venues to manage pandemic testing.
