Ofcom: Notice of draft regulations for proposed changes to fees for certain Shared Access spectrum licences

Ofcom has today opened a consultation on our proposed amendments to the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) Regulations 2020 (the 2020 Regulations) to reflect two Ofcom policy decisions about certain types of Shared Access Licences.

In December 2024, we decided to make a new frequency band (2320-2340 MHz) available for Shared Access licences. Today's proposed amendments to the 2020 Regulations would introduce fees for licences in this new band, in line with the fees for licences in other bands.

Also in December last year, following a consultation, we decided to raise the fee for Shared Access (Medium Power) licences in urban areas from £80 to £160 for channels up to 10 MHz. This is to ensure that spectrum is used as efficiently as possible. Today's proposal would therefore also amend the 2020 Regulations to give effect to that decision.

No other types of Shared Access licences are affected.
