Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice to give evidence on the rule of law

Tomorrow the House of Lords Constitution Committee will be quizzing the Rt Hon. Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales, as part of its inquiry into the rule of law.  

The sessions will take place on Wednesday 16 July 2025 at 10:15am and can be followed live on Parliament TV.   

Questions the committee is likely to ask include:     

• What is the state of access to civil justice in England and Wales, and what impact does this have on the rule of law? 

• What effect would better access to early legal advice have on the functioning of the civil justice system? 

• Has encouraging uptake of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms improved access to civil justice? 

• What is meant by a ‘digital justice system' and to what extent has this vision been achieved?
