Finance Minister has welcomed the continued
progress of the Derry City and Strabane District Council City
Deal in a visit to the North West today.
Speaking after a visit to Derry and Strabane, the Minister said:
“City and Growth Deals are built on partnership, shared
goals and commitment.
“Some 50 projects are currently being developed and
delivered across four Deals which cover every council area and
represent a partnership between Government, the Council and local
communities.
“The Derry City and Strabane District Council City Deal
brings together the strength and passion of all those involved
and will help to unlock the true potential and success of the
North West.
“The investment of over £300million support will be a
catalyst for real change in the area and I know full well the
significance of this funding injection to the people of the
region.”
The Minister added: “I welcome today's opportunity to be
updated on the progress of the Deal's projects. Plans to open a
new museum and establishing an innovation and data analytics
centre along with the regeneration of Derry Central Riverfront
and Strabane will undoubtedly encourage further private sector
investments.
“The positive momentum created by the Deal and wider
investment will help to boost employment, increase productivity,
and address skills gaps. My Department will continue to work
together with all partners to further progress regional balance
and create the opportunities for all areas to thrive.”
