Home Secretary to appear before Lords Committee

Tomorrow the House of Lords Justice and Home Affairs Committee will be questioning the Home Secretary, the Rt. Hon Yvette Cooper MP, about the work of the Home Office. 

The session will cover issues including the Home Secretary's priorities, the Immigration White Paper, relations with the EU, Border Force, Policing, and Security. 

The session will take place on Tuesday 8 July at 2pm and can and can be followed live on Parliament TV. 

Questions the committee is likely to ask include: 

• What are your priorities as Home Secretary? 

• Are the plans announced in the White Paper to clarify Article 8 compatible with the commitment to the ECHR that the Government made to the EU at the summit on 19 May? 

• What are the implications of the White Paper's proposals on citizenship and settlement for long-term residents? 

• What are your proposals for the future of family reunion for refugees? 

• How will you end the use of Asylum Hotels in this Parliament? 

• Does Border Force have sufficient capacity? 

• Do the police retain public support?  

• Are the police and probation services capable of managing more offenders in the community?
