The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee continues
its inquiry into the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) by hearing
from construction and architectural industry experts.
The session will run from 10am on
Tuesday 8 July and can be followed live or
afterwards on Parliament
TV or in person in Committee Room 1, Palace
of Westminster.
At 10am, the Committee will hear from:
- Mark Reynolds,
Co-Chair, Construction Leadership Council;
- Helen Fisher,
Director, Cladding Safety Scheme, Homes England.
At 11am, the Committee will hear from:
- Ben Oram,
Chair, Architectural Technical Leads Group;
- Steve Evans,
Head of Technical Operations, National House Building
Council;
- Gary Strong,
Global Building Standards Director, Royal Institution of
Chartered Surveyors.
Members are expected to ask questions on:
- the impact of the BSR's regulatory framework on the delivery
of new homes and the maintenance and improvement of existing
high-rise buildings;
- clarity and guidance provided by the BSR;
- reasons for the cause in delays of BSR approvals;
- BSR resources and if it has access to the skilled staff
necessary to carry out multidisciplinary assessments of
safety;
- comparisons between the BSR's regulatory framework and
building safety in other countries;
- how the BSR's work relates to the regulation of construction
products.
