The Minister of State for Care, , will face questions from
the Health and Social Care Committee, on the state of NHS
dentistry, in an evidence session on Wednesday 9
July.
The session comes two years after the predecessor Health and
Social Care Committee concluded there was a “crisis of access in
NHS dentistry” in a report published on the
topic in July 2023.
This evidence session will be an opportunity for MPs to
scrutinise what progress there has been in recovering and
reforming NHS dental services since the publication of the 2023
report.
In the two-panel session, MPs will first hear from Chair of the
General Dental Committee of the British Dental Association, the
Chief Executive of the Nuffield Trust, and Healthwatch England's
Head of Policy, Public Affairs & Research.
The Committee will ask the panel of stakeholders for their
assessment of the impact of policies and interventions to date,
whether they believe a reformed dental contract could be
implemented by the end of this Parliament, and what further
action is required.
At approximately 10.10am, Care Minister will face MPs' questions,
alongside the Director for Primary and Community Health Care at
the DHSC, the Chief Dental Officer at NHS England
(NHSE), and NHSE's National Director for Primary Care and
Community Services.
This panel will be questioned on NHS dental contract reform and
the plans to reforms dentistry in the 10 Year Health Plan, with
MPs asking when a reformed contract can be expected.
