Scottish Finance Secretary welcomes longer consultation period on bus firm job

Finance Secretary Shona Robison has welcomed Alexander Dennis Limited's decision to extend the consultation period over the future of its Scottish sites.

In a letter to the Economy and Fair Work Committee, Ms Robison said the move provides more time for the bus manufacturer to explore all viable options to retain their hardworking staff and facilities at Larbert and Falkirk.

The company is carrying out a consultation process which could see the sites close with 400 jobs at risk. Following calls from trade unions, Unite and GMB, the firm has extended the minimum period of consultation by two weeks until at least 15 August.
