Lords to hear from fishing industry on impact of UK-EU fisheries agreement

Tomorrow, Tuesday 24 June, the House of Lords European Affairs Committee will continue its inquiry into the UK-EU reset. The session will look at the agreement made on fisheries at the UK-EU summit in May and what it will mean for the fishing industry.  

At 3.30pm, the Committee will hear from: 

• Elspeth Macdonald, Chief Executive, Scottish Fishermen's Federation  

• Chris Ranford, Chair, National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations  

• Tavish Scott, Chief Executive, Salmon Scotland   

The session will take place in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster, and can be watched live, or after the meeting, on Parliamentlive.tv.  

The Committee's questions are likely to cover: 

• The UK-EU summit outcomes and the impact on the fishing sector 

• How the fisheries arrangements under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) have been working so far and their impact on the various parts of the UK fishing industry 

• The difference a UK-EU SPS Agreement would make to the UK fisheries sector
