Lords Committee questions Children’s Commissioner on key issues related to children’s care and public services

On Wednesday 18 June at 11.00am, the House of Lords Public Services Committee will hear from Dame Rachel de Souza, the Children's Commissioner for England in a session that will examine her views on key issues affecting children and public services and which aspects of these should be prioritised.

The session will also focus on children in care, SEND provision for young people, and how effectively public services work across government to support young people.

The session can be watched live or on demand at Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 1, Palace of Westminster.

Questions for discussion may include:

• What are the key issues affecting children and young people in England?

• How effectively are local authorities able to meet the needs of looked after children in England?

• In your view, how effectively are the needs of children with SEND being met in school? What are the key issues affecting SEND provision in the education system?

• Overall, how effectively do different children's public services work together to support children and their families?

• Are there any areas of children's services where, or groups of children for which, multi-agency working is more important than others?
