The Home Affairs Committee will question Minister for
Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls, Jess Philips
MP, on Tuesday 17 June in the closing session of its inquiry into
funding of VAWG services.
The Government has pledged to halve violence against women and
girls (VAWG) and the Home Secretary has warned that this will
require “effective cross-system working” and more work at a local
and national level. As Minister with overall responsibility for
VAWG, the Committee will question Jess Philips on whether the
existing funding framework for VAWG services is adequate to meet
the Government's target.
The session will examine if the current approach to VAWG funding
supports the right mix of services and providers to respond to
complex and diverse needs. It will also examine how the impact of
funding is measured and how different sources of funding are
coordinated.
The Committee will also question representatives of local
government and Police and Crime Commissioners to understand how
VAWG-related funding is distributed at a local level.
