Employees, support organisations and employers to give evidence on Autism Act

On Monday, the House of Lords Autism Act 2009 Committee will be holding a further two evidence sessions on supporting autistic people in employment as it continues its inquiry into the Act. 

Giving evidence at 14:45 will be: 

• Dan Harris – Founder and Chair of Neurodiversity in Business; and Director, Deloitte UK  

• Tegan Mulby – Young autistic employee, Positive Footprints; and Ex-DFN Project SEARCH supported intern 

• Sian Foster – Director of Business Development, DFN Project SEARCH  

Questions the committee is likely to ask include: 

• What are the main problems with support for young autistic people in moving from education to work and what is going well? 

• What are the main barriers to employers supporting young autistic people with the move from education to work? 

• In your experience, what are the main problems with support for autistic people to stay and progress in work and what is going well? 

• What are the main barriers to employers supporting autistic people to stay and progress in work? 

Giving evidence at 16:00 will be: 

• Rob Walters – Technical Director, Patronbase 

• Peter Stokes – Neurodiversity and Social Mobility Manager, Babcock  

• Mayur Gondhea – Founder, CubeLynx 

Questions the committee is likely to ask include: 

• How effectively do employers support autistic people to find and stay in work? What determines whether an employer offers the right support or not? 

• What are the main barriers to employers supporting young autistic people with the move from education to work? What should the Government, employers and others do to overcome these barriers? 

• What are the main barriers to employers recruiting autistic people? What should the Government, employers and others do to overcome these barriers? 

• What are the main barriers to employers supporting autistic people to stay and progress in work? What should the Government, employers and others do to overcome these barriers?
