Deputy First Minister has said “real progress” is
being made towards the Scottish Government's vision for a
sustainable future for Grangemouth, as 82 enquiries have been
confirmed through Project Willow.
Scottish Enterprise is dealing with enquiries from interested
parties, including potential investors, across sectors
highlighted in the report, as well as others connected to
manufacturing activities carried out across the wider cluster.
The announcement comes as the Deputy First Minister unveiled a
£2.2 million investment through Scottish Enterprise in
agricultural chemicals company Syngenta, supporting the business'
£14.7 million expansion at Grangemouth which will create 38 new
jobs and increase it's workforce to around 400.
Ms Forbes said:
“Syngenta's expansion is a great example of the future we want
for the Grangemouth complex and reflects the location's
attractiveness to investors, with access to a skilled and
experienced workforce and established infrastructure.
“Real progress is being made through both Project Willow and
other associated manufacturing opportunities.
“With Scottish Enterprise currently dealing with 82 Project
Willow enquiries, it is clear there is an appetite from the
private sector to bring new, hi-tech, low-carbon projects to the
area, creating demand for the highly skilled workforce.
“The Scottish Government's £25 million Grangemouth Just
Transition Fund will support businesses bringing forward
investible propositions for the site.”
