Kemi Badenoch commits to reversing Labour’s EU ‘reset’ if it is not in our national interest and undermines Brexit freedoms

Ahead of a meeting with the EU Ambassador in London on Monday 12 May, Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has written to Pedro Serrano to say that a future Conservative-led government would reverse any deal Keir Starmer does with Brussels that breaks our five Brexit tests and damages the interests of the United Kingdom.

A Conservative Party spokesman said:

“When Labour negotiates, Britain loses. From giving away the Chagos Islands and paying billions for the privilege; to selling out British workers with the India trade deal; to acting like 10 per cent US tariffs are a victory; Keir Starmer is willing to give or say anything to get a deal over the line.

“Keir Starmer doesn't believe in Britain and did all he could to frustrate Brexit, he is clearly gearing up to hand over the freedoms we won through Brexit just to be in Brussels' good books.

“Under Kemi Badenoch's leadership, the Conservatives will always stand up for Britain and fight for our hard-won freedoms. Our fishing industry is too precious, immigration too high and our economy too fragile, for Labour to place their destinies back in the hands of Brussels. Kemi hopes that pledging to reverse Starmer's EU surrender will send a clear signal to the EU that any lop-sided deal they sign with Labour isn't worth the paper it's written on.”
