Cardiff Parkway: “better late than never” says Davies

Andrew RT Davies has welcomed the approval of plans for a new mainline railway station in Cardiff.

The First Minister has approved the plans to build Cardiff Parkway, after what Davies has branded a “painfully long wait”.

The planning application was called in for review by the Welsh Government over two years ago, in October 2022.

The new development will include a four-platform railway station and a business park.

Andrew RT Davies MS, Senedd Member for South Wales Central and former Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said: 

“After a painfully long wait, it's great to see Cardiff Parkway given the green light.

“This new station will be a game changer for Cardiff, but we do have to ask what took Welsh Government so long to approve it. 

“Any government serious about growth would have approved this earlier, but better late than never.”
