Residents in West Huntingdonshire now have access to a new, more
flexible public transport option with the official launch of
Tiger on Demand. The service, designed to provide vital
connectivity in rural areas with limited public transport, was
celebrated last week with Dr , Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough taking a
trip from St Neots to Cambourne to test out the service
firsthand.
The Tiger on Demand service replaces the previous Ting bus and
offers residents a smarter way to travel without being tied to
fixed routes or timetables. Instead, users can book their
journeys between designated virtual bus stops, providing more
convenient travel options within West Huntingdonshire.
Speaking about the launch, Mayor Dr said: "Tiger on Demand is a transformative service
for residents in our region, particularly those living in rural
areas where traditional public transport options are limited. It
offers a flexible, reliable, and affordable way to travel, giving
people better access to work, education, healthcare, and social
activities."
Partnering for Success
The launch of Tiger on Demand has been made possible through a
collaboration with WeMove, who provide the vehicles for the
service, and Spare, the technology partner behind the
user-friendly booking app.
A representative from WeMove said: "We're so excited to see the
launch of the brand-new DRT service Tiger on Demand, created in
partnership with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined
Authority.
This innovative service, developed in partnership with Spare, A2B
Travel, Dews Coaches and Thames Valley Transport aims to provide
flexible and accessible transport options for residents and to
meet the evolving needs of the community across the district.
WeMove are proud to have played a key role in bringing Tiger on
Demand to life and look forward to seeing its positive impact on
the community."
A representative from Spare said: "Spare is proud to support
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority in delivering
their vision for a more connected and accessible public transport
network. With Tiger on Demand, we're helping to bring flexible,
reliable, and technology-driven transport to residents in West
Huntingdonshire, ensuring rural communities have the mobility
they need to thrive."
