Conservatives: Response to Rachel Reeves’ comments on the budget

Nigel Huddleston MP, Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury, said:

“This is an outright admission that Rachel Reeves has invented a fictitious ‘blackhole' in the public finances for nothing more than shameless political point scoring.

“It is clear this nothing but a desperate attempt from Labour to justify the tax rises they have planned all along, and this is just the latest evidence that Reeves has misled the public.

“The public are no fools and will see the punishment this Chancellor is planning to inflict on the country for exactly what it is.”
